Dawna Markova writes, “Who am I when I stop doing, when I am not a caretaker as my mother was or a boss as my father was? What have I come here to give?”

Ask yourself:  Who are you? Is there room in your life to give what you have come here to give? To be who you have come here to be? What sets the pace of your life? Is it coming from within, from who you are? Or are you being driven by outside forces or someone else’s values? Is there a gap between how you are spending your time and the priorities you say you have?

Whether you are caretaker, homemaker, busy retiree, or 9-to-5er, as a 21st century woman you undoubtedly play many roles.  When they all weigh in at the end of the day, are you leaving enough time and energy for the things that are essential to the best possible you?

A balanced life does not occur in a vacuum.  It is
the result of clarity about the purpose that drives
you and the core values that make you who you are,
plus the willingness to make changes based on what
you know to be true about yourself.  The clearer
you are about your core values and the purpose of
your life, the easier it is to say yes to the good
stuff and no to all the rest.

We’ll start the retreat on Friday evening getting to know each other while beginning to explore your purpose and values.

Saturday morning begins with gentle yoga-based movement as a prelude to individual reflection and conversation, examining whether or not your current lifestyle is in line with your deepest values.

In the afternoon we’ll get specific about time, comparing the way you spend it now with your vision of a life well lived.  We’ll reflect on the many conflicting roles life calls on you to play, and conclude with a discussion of how to make the changes required to bring them into balance.

Throughout the retreat, we’ll take advantage of the gifts of the Flint Hills at the end of summer, with plenty of time for guided and unguided reflection amidst the beauty of Tallgrass Spiritual Retreat Center.

Julia is also facilitating Treasures in Transition:
Finding Meaning in the Choppy Seas of Change
on Friday May 2 and Saturday May 3, 2008.
